Moconesi - the Sanctuary of Our Lady of the Guard and San Giacomo in Gattorna.
Moconesi is a municipality divided into many centers of great importance for Alta Fontanabuona such as Gattorna, Ferrada, Terrarossa it's the same Moconesi.
Gattorna, a village at the bottom of the valley, located on the main road of the valley is a crossroads of important transit routes from the past and the present.
Precisely this location has favored the commercial character which has always distinguished the country.
Nelle epoche passate è stato luogo di passaggio e di sosta dei viandanti che, dalla costa, proseguivano il loro percorso risalendo le mulattiere dei passi appenninici per raggiungere la Pianura Padana. Gattorna è sempre quindi al centro di flussi di merci e di uomini e probabilmente per questo fu sede per molti secoli di un ospedale (Hospitalis) intitolato a San Giacomo, patrono dei pellegrini.
Questa località è altresì famosa per la produzione del toy “Poor” like the characteristic pinwheel that has become a real symbol of the town.
Oggi è un centro commerciale che vede la presenza di molti esercizi e negozi di genere vario e per questo costituisce un punto di riferimento per gli abitanti dei borghi circostanti e non solo.

Red earth it is another place on the bottom of the valley that binds its fame to that of Christopher Columbus. According to some sources, the Genoese navigator was born in a family originally from Terra rubra ovvero Terrarossa. Nel 1989 la comunità della valle ha dedicato un monumento in bronzo a Colombo dell’artista fontanino Giacomo Leveroni ,oggi visitabile nella piazzetta di Terrarossa.
The path that was restored in 1992 on the occasion of the Colombian events starts from this same location. It is a historical path, which retraces the probable itinerary followed by Colombo's family to move to Genoa called "Colombian route”. Parte Terrarossa e arriva a Genova Quinto.
Altra località del territorio è Ferrada, sede del Municipio, di negozi, ristoranti e piccole ditte artigiane. La chiesa del paese è un’antica cappella poi trasformata a partire dal 1641 dalla famiglia De Ferrari . Sulla piazza del borgo ,nei pressi del rio Moconesi, si può ammirare un ponte in pietra ottimamente conservato e con edicola votiva al centro.
